Jobs, jobs, jobs and more jobs is the theme of the brand new $1 million Gilmore employment program which officially kicked off in Nowra yesterday.

Member for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis said “The new Local Employment Initiative Fund will directly support employment projects in the area such as mentoring programs and the upskilling of people looking for work so that they are job ready.”

“Employment Facilitators in Gilmore together with Regional Development Australia (RDA) Far South Coast, will spearhead the new $1 million program designed to promote employment in the region,” Mrs Sudmalis said.

Chief Executive Officer of Regional Development Australia Far South Coast, Fiona Hatcher has welcomed the funding and thanked Mrs Sudmalis for her commitment and delivery of solution focused initiatives geared towards improving employment outcomes in Gilmore.

“I know the region as a whole will be appreciative for this new program and the significant investment made by the Australian Government as a result of Mrs Sudmalis’ advocacy. This builds upon the $20 million Regional Jobs Investment Program that was launched last year.”

“The end game is to get people into work, gainfully employed. When we pull together as a community we achieve great results.”

Last month Gilmore was named as one of ten regions across the country to benefit from a new Turnbull Government employment program.

Under the $18.4 million Regional Employment Trials Program, the new Employment Facilitator will be appointed through a competitive tender process, closing 18 July, 2018.
